Studies
Jordi Molina starts his musical education at 7 in his town, joining the Band and Cobla of Sta. Maria School, under the direction of Father Joaquim Alqueza. Later, he continues his studies at the Girona and Barcelona conservatoires and Taller de Músics.
He follows tenora courses with Ricard Viladesau.

Activities as soloist
Jordi Molina plays as a soloist tenora with «cobles» Sta Maria de Blanes (1969-1981), La Principal de Barcelona (1981-1983), Els Montgrins (1983-1986) and Maravella (1996-1999).

He became member from the very beginning of Cobla de Cambra de Catalunya (1998) and Cobla Simfónica de Catalunya (2001).

In 1999, Jordi Molina decided to stop playing with traditional music groups in order to open new paths for the tenora's repertoire. The tenora, until quite recently, had not been used out of its usual «cobla» environment.Together with pianist Ramón Escalé, Jordi Molina records Mosaic, an album for tenora and piano which includes songs written by important contemporary composers like Manel Camp, Ricard Miralles, Francesc Burrull, Albert Guinovart, Jorge Sarraute and others.

He collaborates on performances Sonada (2000) and Llibre vermell de Montserrat (2002) with the group Companyia Elèctrica Dharma.

In 2000, Jordi Molina together with Jaume Vila, Josep Gispert and the cobla La Principal de la Bisbal is on tour with the performance Tres tenores. Same year he also collaborates with three of the most important personalities on the catalan musical scene: M. del Mar Bonet, Manel Camp i Lluís Vidal (première of the concert Per un camí comú, for tenora and jazz trio).

In 2001, collaborates with Cesc Gelabert on the performance specially created to the delivery of National awards and he joins the French Workshop de Hautbois Populaires, conducted by Philippe Neveu.

In March 2003, in the Auditori of Barcelona, he shows for the first time Centenari, by Francesc Cassú, a piece for tenora and orquestra with the Symphony Orchestra del Vallès, conducted by Salvador Brotons. He also participates in performances El sabater d’Ordis with the Chamber Orchestra of Empordà and Caurus together with the soloists Carlo Rizzo, José de Udaeta and Ramón Escalé Quintet.

In 2004, he creates the group Jordi Molina & Ramón Escalé Quintet, together with Pep Cucurella (bass), Lluís Ribalta (drums) and Antonio Sanchez (percussions) and also the duet for tenora and organ with Josep M. Escalona.

Jordi Molina develops an intense activity giving concerts all over Spain and in the whole world : France, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Estonie, Germany, Wales, Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Switzerland, Belgium, Israel, Jordan, Tunesia, South-Africa, China, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile

Along his artistic career he has received several awards, bringing out the Outstanding Interpretation Prize by the OBP (2000) and the Musical Value Medal by the OBP (2004). His participation in a variety of musical groups has allowed Jordi to record over 90 albums as a tenora performer. These recordings have included a diversity of musical genres.

Composer, Director and Professor
As a composer he has written sardanas, music for coblas, choral music, theatre, audio-visuals, two cantatas, pieces for chamber music, and he frequently writes and arranges pieces for TV, a variety of groups and soloists.

He has been awarded the «Ramón Serrat Prize» for young composers (1992), the second prize in the Ceret-Banyoles contest for sardana composition (1999) and the Federation Prize «Sardana of the year» (2005).

He assisted as a tenora´s teacher in cobla schools of Blanes, Calella, Reus, Agramunt and Tàrrega. Currently he is a director for instrumentalist of the cobla de Ceret and Professor of harmony and arrangement at the AMT.

He has been director of cobles Vila de Blanes and Marinada and currently he conducts the Anselm Viola Choir of Torroella de Montgri. As a guest director he often works with many of the most famous cobles of the country.
